OBD 2 scanning tools
I've been watching some videos on various scan tools for my car, it seems like there's lots of options. Does anyone have any good advice on what works best for scanning/ clearing codes? I'm leaning towards the VEEPEAK OBD2 bluetooth device and Garage pro and CARPM apps. Please share your experiences with these or other devices or apps. Thanks.

Well basically my CEL has been on pretty much the whole time I've owned the car ( 5 years) and I'd like to have the best chance of tracking down the cause. I thought maybe the live data on the Garagepro app might be useful at pinpointing values etc. I've done the DTC check but that doesn't really tell you much specifically. The car runs great and everything works fine but........that damned light!

I'd take my pick of the $20 tools and try different apps, some are free to try out.Blacklab467 wrote: ↑30 Jan 2021, 17:02 I've been watching some videos on various scan tools for my car, it seems like there's lots of options. They definitely have their place.
I have a CEL but its just way too cold to go through the routine of setting up vida.
I could light the 23K kerosine heater for 4 hrs but thats just more hassle compared to using the smartphone apps.

I’ve got a nice big heated garage, and it’s going to be -20 for the next week. I think I’ll order the VEEPEAK and see what I can find out. Looks like I’ll be not working till the spring so more time to work on the car and other stuff! My Volvo has been the greatest benefactor of COVID time off!
