850 Platinum Pearl paint

Post by fastgroceries »

Hello!
I'm in a project repainting a Platinum. I have done this before and noticed that the base coat was a pale cream yellow, nd then the Pearl topcoart, then clear. I recently ordered some paint for it online and the base coat color is more like a polar white.
My question is: What is the proper paint code color for the base coat? The topcoat is the 424 Platinum Pearl white, but the base coat is not "white". But I need to describe to the guys that sold me the paint what the base color is...because it's definitely not polar white.

Hope you get a solution for this. You could try contacting Volvo or maybe a good paint shop can find out from data they have.

I know that some of Volvo's paints use white or grey primers as they become part of the actual color. Problem is when you paint over that layer the paint goes darker. Volvo used to not fix the bumpers and only sell painted replacements.

Good Luck!

Neil.
