K&N can claim lifetime because K&N shortens the lifetime of the engine. K&N get the performance boost by lowering air flow restriction. The trade off is larger particles are allowed to pass. Which are like sandpaper in the engine.

If you want a performance air filter. Retrofit the car with a larger filter that has the same or better filtering capabilities.

Obviously that's a radio interference filter to prevent misfires. Super common on small engines like that!
