I think you missed the ‘V’ when you bought the ‘S’
Someday I'll have a V for sure. At the moment though my car lives half time on the streets of San Francisco, under a freeway overpass where there's always parking because no one else dares parking there. So it's nice to have a lockbox trunk that I can fill with toys. I've been meaning to make it so an enterprising crackhead wouldn't be able to access the trunk by pulling down the rear seats or through the ski hole.

OP, why not put something like a Yakima shallow basket on the roof - it carries surfboards or lumber with pads, it carries all sorts of things tied down.

I actually need to get around to doing this to the rails on the wife's 855 this next season. I've had the Plastidip for a while, but just never have gotten around to doing the rails...

A roof basket is an interesting idea. I found these for example:

Can S70's take low profile rails for attaching one of those, or would it require mounting on top of the surf rack?

Can I should state my unofficial motto that I tell all my pickup truck driving friends: "a pickup truck is a state of mind". And as one of them told me, "that's one hard workin Volvo".

Yeeks, $400 for a roof rack.

I made mine from demo lumber I charged $40 to haul away...used it to haul the last kid to Bryn Mawr and back a few years ago.
