96 960 sedan Struts and shocks

Post by CIK7 »

I am thinking about not getting another car and putting the money towards replacing parts on my car.
I have said it before and will say it again. When I first bought my 960 it was the most insanely comfortable ride and handling I have ever experienced on a car. Hardly any bumps, even the fairly bigger ones were negated. After that pothole that blew the brake booster, my front suspension has been a good bit rough. I want to find out what the original brand (with P/N) was so I can replace the shocks and struts. I want the same soft handling back.
My 96 960 does NOT have self/auto shocks. Any 9 series Volvo with IRS does not have self/auto shocks

I am having issues sourcing front struts for my 98 S90. Can you still get front struts for your 96 960?

I did a LOT of research to find the P/N I needed for shocks and struts. Also I shopped for the rest of the suspension components.
Unable to find the genuine Volvo struts. Very difficult to find quality brand parts. You will find shocks that won't fit 9 series with IRS. What 9 series does have IRS? All 960 sedans, some 960 wagons, and (iirc) all sv90. Check compatibility.
