blower bearing part numbers?

Post by Blacklab467 »

Has anyone been successful at replacing their blower bearings? I was going to take mine out and lube them but thought it better to cross reference the part numbers and try to find new ones at a bearing house locally. Are they both micro roller bearings or is there a brass bushing type bearing? Thanks in advance.

In my experience dealing car blower motor, since they are small device with light load, they run on "bushing" and not ball bearings.

I usually remove them and lube every 5-6 yrs/50K-60K. Easy Saturday DIY.
It is free.

As above, it's rather two bushing bearings. The top one is the one going bad, unfortunately it sits under the blower 'fan' part, mine was really stuck in rust and wouldn't come off the shaft in order to have access to the top bushing

Same as Oragex here. Since the plastic was seized on my shaft, I drilled a couple tiny holes closest to the center of the squirrel cage fan. Then just shot my lube into the holes “aiming” for whatever type rotating bearing/buffer lie in the unseeable depths below. Worked great! Just don’t use something that has a distasteful aroma (for example PB Blaster, Yuck). Fluid Film also leaves quite a peculiar stink that greets you every time you ask for heat or cooling. Kroil smells decent but is so damned expensive. Best things I’ve found: a grease filled syringe heated in hot water, or liquified/hot wax to send in there.

Take it apart as far as you can. I managed to get one all the way down, another only half. Either way clean it as best you can, spray it with solvent. Then pack it with grease and you are good to go.

As described above, the bearings are super old tech. Robust and servicable if not water damaged. Even then one should be able to clean them up and regrease them.
