Anyone have any concrete grinding tips?
I have a 4.5" angle grinder and a $8 DeWalt concrete wheel. The going is... slow.

Wear a good sealing mask. Breathing silicone dust is bad.
It may be better to use carbide tipped drill bits with a hammer drill to get the depth you want. Use about 3/8 bit and use water cooling. Do not let the bit get hot. Make a ring of holes close together but not overlapping- maybe 2 inch diameter. Then use a chisel to break out the rough cylinder. Expect it to take a long time and keep your patience.

I think you could pour/cast a new one with the cup formed quicker than what your doing. And you could make a few of them different heights at that point. Looks like a piece of Sonotube with a bowl in the bottom would do quite nicely.

Sometimes if you can't win just join. If a little extra height is not an issue. Find or make a round sleeve and pour new concrete to join or surround the bottom piece while forming your ideal shaped upper planter. It will take too long to cut besides not achieving the shape you want.
