2008 V50 nonturbo- 300k mile - should I replace oil pump?

Post by cypilot »

Just acquired a 2008 V50 non turbo, 2.4 automatic with ~305,000 miles on it. Original motor and trans. Great runner, in fact I just drove it 900 miles to Colorado where it'll live during ski season for the next few years.

Thinking forward to spring, I'm contemplating replacing the oil pump just because of the miles on the motor. It looks pretty straightforward, and I'd obviously do a timing belt, water pump, idlers, serp belts at the same time.

Thoughts from V50 experts?

Volvo oil pumps are highly reliable for the life of the engine. The only time you replace a Volvo Oil pump is when it gets damaged.
