2008 S80 T6 turbo question

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

2008 S80 T6 turbo question

Hi folks,
I just purchased a S80 T6 @ 161,000 miles. It's a lovely car but it seems a bit underpowered compared to my wife's 2013 S60 T5. I assume the turbo is tired and needs a rebuild. I am planning to buy a used turbo of the same manufacture and have it rebuilt then swap it out. I have not found any info on the replacement procedure online for the P3. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

A tired turbo? What is that? It will either smoke or make an awful noise or whistle - a sign of failure. I am not sure you will get a boost drop that would lessen performance - and if you did you most likely would get a code.

An S80 is a bigger car than an S60.

You might post your P3 issue in the P3 S80 forum to get a better response. I'm not sure if the gen3 3.0L turbo (p3/2nd gen s80) is same as the gen2 2.9L tturbo or the gen1 2.8L tturbo (p2/1st gen s80). You might need a tune up. Perhaps the 2nd channel in the airbox is stuck closed (if you have that 2nd channel). Its also true what *cough* SuperHuman *cough* I mean SuperHerman said. 1st gen s80 t6 is 3,653lb, 2nd gen s80 t6 (yours) is 4,016lb, and your wife's 2013 s60 t5 is 3,548lb.
