850 Lambda sensor

Post by manovlov »

Hy Buddies,

Since 2 days, I have a light on my speedometer, the famous "orange triangle": lambda sensor.

Here's my question : have a to replace the 2 sensors or only one ?

Only broken one I would go as I like be cheap.

Lambda light is not automatically that it is lambda sensor. It's engine check light. Just to make sure here.

Have you tried to read the codes ?
A Bluetooth adapter with xanthefin's app works perfectly.

As mentioned it may not be the lambda sensor. The light is as said a generic engine warning light so don't assume it is the lambda sensor. If one fails it is more common of the upstream one (the one closest to the engine).

'95 have OBDI diagnostic ports under the hood.
All you need is a piece of paper and a pencil to write down the flash codes.
Just make sure to check A2 port for codes....it is engine diagnostic.

Good points about year model. So yeah engine ECU is hard to reach over OBDII with ELM327 on those years as its most likely not Motronic M4.4 or MSA15.7 (Diesel).
I personally got example that 95 model which doesn't have if you mean that diagnostic box under the hood.. but only OBDII port.

So if no diagnostic box then:

Ritual is the same as if you have Motronic M4.3, MFI system (LH-jetronic 3.2 & EZ129K”) - system combination or Fenix 5.2

OBDII port Pin 1 (EZ) and
OBDII port pin 3 is for then Motronic M4.3, LH or Fenix 5.2 ECU

For me Fenix 5.2 it goes to switch per OBDII pin 3 and then when I close switch it goes to ground to give command to Fenix 5.2. Then LED/light has constant plus from OBDII port pin 16 and ground from the ECU Pin from OBDII port (Pin 3 example) and flashes after pressing switch for 1 seconds and release.

But if with diagnostic box then better go with that way on that car to read flash codes.

One time my Lambda was nearly running out, and luckily the sensor caught it. I found it at Costco in bulk!
