I hope its not wrong to post this here. I swear this is a face slap right here. Be sure to read the comments after the article. 'who would buy junk Volvo...'. What a waste of money for sure.

The amazing thing is vanity plates aren’t transferrable inNY so you can’t put these on your street legal car

Forgive my utter ignorance of US law, let alone individual state laws, but the article indicates this plate has been transferred between multiple vehicles within the family for 40 years, and certainly no 850 was around in 71. Does that mean the plate has been illegal since the sale/crushing/whatever of the original vehicle it came on? Is there some clause or, being the US, some financial loophole that allows transfer?

Oh, and I haven't forgotten about my homework, I'll get started on that soon.

In NY you can transfer a registration and plate to another car with the Same registrant, but not to a new registrant. Once it sells........I don’t know how this will work.

You know this has been transferred already since that style of plate newer than the P80

Those are the near ugliest wheels I have ever seen. I hope their Mother is still alive so that someone loves them. Beautiful colour , though...417, baby.

Same here in Kansas. The plate is assigned to the person not the car. After a sell you can transfer your plate to another car you register within 60 days of the date of purchase. You can surrender the plate for a prorated refund. You can use it as a wall hanger. You can use it or to patch a hole in the barn. But no one else can use the plate on a vehicle.
