Upgrade turbo without tune?

Good catch. Expansion and contraction due to the wide range temperature changes could deform the sealing surface.

When did you last replace the PCV system? If that is blocked it will eventually poor oil down the back of the block onto the turbo.

I would clean it all off and then see if you can find a source of the leak. It may not be the turbo as suggested.
