Volvo Titan Wheel Color Question code 932 mix. 3529545

Howdy,

Found some Titans, 3 look to be 932 Anthracite and clearcoated, one is obviously missing clear but is lighter. Not sure if the base color is just lighter and the wheel was repainted at some point. I've seen online that clearing them darken them quite a bit.... Anybody seen this before?

Look on the back side for part numbers and post the numbers.

A factory reject made its way to the used market (unlikely) or that one was refinished at some point. It’s common to have wheels fixed and refinished because of curb rash.

Likely one was repaired/re-painted as suggested. If the painter did not have another to match to they will have possibly used the right code but the wheel has not aged like the others. Sometimes an extra coat of clear may help darken it.

Matching paint is hell. I worked at a Sherwin Williams paint store in high school and I helped many customers match what was on their walls. Even with a real, actual sample it took lots of work and trial/error to get our mix to match their walls, when done and dry. Difficulty: high

Paint code 932 is also known as both Anthracite and Titanium Silver Metallic. One could get the odd one repainted and buffed to match the others.

This has me wondering if the typical wheel shop/refinisher would have a) Volvo paint, b) a 3rd party paint that is a "match" for Volvo wheel paints, or c) they have a spreadsheet where they find the Volvo paint code and that cross-references to a close match for a 3rd party paint they stock.

Or if some dude eyeballs it and let's rip with "grey". Grey is grey, right?

I'm sure it varies widely, and that variance has a strong correlation to how much it costs.

Know its a old post, but was at my local paint dealer today, and needed the 932 for the Titan rims.

They had the colorcode did a 2x rattlecan mix.
Maybe it can help someone who needs it for the future if they cant get a hold on the receipt.
