now that I've got my electrical straightened out, I'm going to tune up my new ride . My question is: does the V6 PVR engine need to have the timing belt replaced every 50k like the 4 cylinder? Reason I ask, we bought the car with 111K and I've no idea if the timing belt has ever been changed.
P.S, what do you generally look for when giving a 700-series a tuneup?
Lucky you. The V6 does not have timing belts, it has chains. Unless they are very noisy leave them alone.
Tune up - New plugs and leads (wires).
Air filter.
Change oil and filter.
If you notice tappet noise adjust tappets.
Inspect and replace as necessary coolant hoses.
Inspect and replace as necessary brake parts.
Change automatic transmission fluid every 20,000 miles.
Replace coolant every 30,000 miles.
Some of the above may not be necessary depending on what the previous owner has done.
