Ceramic Brake Pads?

Does anybody have any experience with ceramic brake pads? Someone suggested them to me to avoid the black brake dust.

They are good for that but depending, they will wear your rotors out faster and also squeak. Some claim a certain brand of them won't do that but I don't remember which brand, sorry.

Thanks for the reply, I didn't think about them wearing faster, so I might stay away for now.

By the way, thanks again for the cabin air filter advice- I changed it myself in 7 mins. . . .and the dealer wanted $85. . ..

I didn't say the pads wear but the rotors will.

I just changed my rear break pads with axxis brand ceramic pads and I also changed to a new rotor. It was doing well during the first 5 miles of break-in after that I notice an increasingly strong vibrations when I slow down then stop. I don't notice it when braking at higher speed. It comes out when my speed is at 5 miles/hr to stop. I don't see any loose nuts or pins coming out. What do you think is the problem? Thanks.

The problem is the ceramic pads (although it could be a warped rotor or sticking caliper pins)...reapply the stop squeak lubricant to the back of the pads and she shims and hope for the best.

I used them on a Prowler, a car that you did not want ANY brake dust on an exposed, chromed and/or polished front suspension.
They worked well on that car. No better, no worse on braking but nary a speck of brake dust!
