How did it get to Florida?

I know Japenese market cars have/had similar specs to UK cars. They were typically fairly highly kitted out. I have seen several brought to the UK from Japan. I recall seeing the UK series Salvage Hunters where they restore older classics and one was a Japanese imported 850R.

The great thing is they don't use salt on the roads and they have high levels of inspections for safety so the cars are usually in very good condition and can have lower mileages. There was a V70 for sale here recently but with RHS steering wheel. IT was also low mileage at around 50,000 miles. Guy wanted a huge amount for it.

There are Japanese labels in various places including one on the driver's door, in the door jamb, the right side of the dash, under the hood, and on the back of the fuel door. Most of them look like they were or could have been added at the last minute before heading to Japan for sale. The Volvo branded battery also had Japanese on it, but I had to replace it. I don't have the original owners manual for it. The VIN tag under the hood says it was made in Belgium.

I've attached some photos including the Japanese dealer badge, a "Good Design Grand Prize Volvo 850 Estate" award badge located on the left side of the glove box, and a pair of sandals I found under the passenger seat.

As for how it got to Florida, I regularly shop on a few JDM exporting websites and this one popped up for what I thought was a good deal. I asked a few questions, negotiated a better deal, sent the money, and a few months later it arrived at the port in Jacksonville where I picked it up.
