07 S60 fwd 2.5t. Many Questions!

Post by Newport1023 »

I'm new to the Volvo world. I've recently purchased a 2007 s60 2.5t with 120k miles interior mint condition and exterior 7/10 for 1650$. Buying the car it had a few small issues that I corrected right away. When I bought the car I drove it home and right away changed the fluids. Oil change. Flushed the radiator and refilled. Changed brake pads and rotors all the way around and new tires all the way around. Has new plugs new wires also. Car runs like a dream for the most part. So list of small problems I've got to correct now.

1.) Radiator fan runs from start up on some days not others. When it does it and I know it shouldnt be on I simply disconnect battery then reconnect after about 1 min. And problem goes away. So my question is what is causing it to run from start?? I'm assuming the IAT sensor?

2.) Passenger airbag sensor I'm guess is bad because I get a notification saying needs service. Any simple fix for this or is it dealer only kinda thing?

3.) I hear not a squeaking noise but more of a rattle coming from it sounds like passenger rear and then drivers front possibly. Sounds like something is loose yet I'm unable to find the culprit maybe I'm just not looking in the right places. I'm assuming maybe bad shock or something. But any advice will be much appreciated.

My car recently got towed and with that being said the tow truck driver was nice enough to bust my driver headlight. And scratch bumper up. Although they should have to pay for that I couldn't prove otherwise so I'm in need of a headlight or just the lense which I'm not seeming to find one that's cheap I guess you could say.

Last thing is I'd like to change the taillight bulbs to LED versions and not necessarily every one just the the most important ones. Am I able to do so or is it a process of adding in additional things for the supply or what have it to make sure they are working properly?

Thanks I'm advance guys I appreciate any and all advice and constructive criticism is welcome also. Can't learn without being shown first so if there's something to learn throw it my way and I'll make what I can of it and run

Skip the LED conversions. These cars monitor light current and the low drawing LED will cause errors in the lamp monitoring system

You could have an iffy engine coolant temperature sensor triggering the fan, but if you are in AUTO climate the AC might be coming on some days and not others, this time of year.

Don’t forget your ATF drain and fill , on the path to stage zero!

Search forum for the DIYs etc.

- Headlight assembly can be found at local junk yard or ebay.

- The rad fan running issue, could be bad ECT.
At 120K, best is to replace the tstat and ECT together.
No need to remove PS Pump for that.
I wrote a DIY in forum where you can simply swap the tstat and ECT over.
Use only Wahler brand, which is OEM.

So drain and fill the transmission fluid I'm assuming? And I found that the fan coming on was the IAT sensor where it's sensing a temp that it's not or something like that. And AC doesn't work has a leak so it never runs I keep the knobs on hot. I'm getting to that next.

What about the airbag light and the traction light sparatic off and on? It rarely does it but after I drive a few mins it goes away.

The tps light does the same

Get the codes read so you can locate the fault inthe SRS. That system will give you a good indicator of what’s wrong. Usually it’s a connector or sensor that is easily swapped
