COVID, Who Knew First?

Post by MoVolvos »

Not sure if this turned into COVID whether by mutation or is variant of? Is there a doctor or scientist here?

Excerpt: "Baric and his team demonstrated that the newly-identified SARS-like virus, labeled SHC014-CoV and found in the Chinese horseshoe bats, can jump between bats and humans by showing that the virus can latch onto and use the same human and bat receptor for entry. The virus also replicates as well as SARS-CoV in primary human lung cells, the preferred target for infection."

“This virus is highly pathogenic, and treatments developed against the original SARS virus in 2002 and the ZMapp drugs used to fight Ebola fail to neutralize and control this particular virus,” said Baric. “So building resources, rather than limiting them, to both examine animal populations for new threats and develop therapeutics is key for limiting future outbreaks.”

I Googled the virus name, and came up with a Wikipedia article:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SHC014-CoV

This bat virus has not infected any humans. It was shown, after genetic modification, to be able to infect human cells in a test tube. These type of lab experiments might be exactly the kind that led to SARS-Cov2. They must be carried out in BL4 Labs (the highest biohazard level), which is a negative pressure lab room. Even with that, if a lab worker gets infected working in the BL4 lab, it can break out.

I imagine there is intense debate about the types of virology R&D that it's safe to be doing. One strategy would be to include something in the genetic mods that disables viral replication inside cells. That way, the virus could be worked with in a form that is pandemic-proof.

Thanks for that information. Perhaps, the Chinese let the Cat out of the Bag, I mean BAT out of the Lab? Maybe they did change it?

Speaking of replication I saw this video yesterday describing the process.

Always wonder what was getting out of Lawrence? Loved the In-N-Out off Hopyard and 99 Ranch off Santa Rita. Cattleman was always a treat.

The COVID-19 Bioweapon conspiracy theory is baseless nonsense and has taken on racial overtones.
The scientific data leads to COVID-19 being the results of a natural process. It is not engineered.
Spreading the conspiracy nonsense does no good.
Disrespect toward others is disallowed.

The Chinese let the Cat (INFO) Out Of The Bag too late but the other Chinese put the Cat (Virus) Back In The Bag early. Yes, our government put a ban on travel early (History) and got heat for being racist (Fact)?

I'm not taking the bait. I'll leave this to the moderators.

There is something I want to know that can only be deduced through observation. I only need a little more to ferret it out.

Let's forgo videos from here on out in this thread. Post you thoughts. Yours. If you want to post supporting evidence, please do, but remember the more support your support has, the more seriously you will be taken.

If you believe that the populace is a brainwashed zombie tribe, and therefore any broadly accepted evidence is automatically to be thrown out as propaganda, then MVS Non-Car Talk is not the place you should be posting. This sub forum is not the place for divergent political thought.

Ironically, we shut down our Asian collaboration of Health Experts the very year we needed it most. We have routinely watched the development of VIruses around the world for about two decades now, recognising that no country is an Island (New Zealand, you suck)

Every flu vaccine administered in the US has its origins in science starting 12 months prior, when we educated guesses as to which strains will be the threat to public health - a complicated convolution of virulence and infection rate.

Its typical that the Media pumps stories about the dangers of Ebola - a nasty looking disease, easily controlled. Meanwhile, 50,000 die of flu in a bad year, and 600,000+ in a horrible year.

New Zealand is not a Island ... it is the eighth continent, called Zealandia.

We no longer know where the virus comes from, but what we do know is that it kills a lot of worlds.
