Hi there all,
12 mths ago I bought a 2011 XC60 T6 MY11 3lt petrol turbo, Engine code B6304T4. 135000km. Great car till it blew an exhaust valve blew in cylinder 1 a few month ago. I'm not flushed with cash so any help would be appreciated.
It has been a slow project to pull down my T 6 motor but we got there in the end after getting some Chinese copies of the cam timing tools etc.
The head is now at a cylinder head specialist and we are waiting on ordering parts to re-build it all. All the other cylinders have been tested and are fine. The only other feature is that a blob of hardened metal attached itself to the spark plug electrode in cylinder 1. (most likely from the hole in the valve)
To determine where it had lost compression my mechanic made his own compression test pipe fittings. He 1st pulled apart 2 used spark plugs and welded 6 inches of pipe to the plug threads so we could blow air down to see/hear where it was leaking to. (very clever I thought)
We quickly found it was leaking out the exhaust valves.
We then went ahead and pulled it down and found one exhaust valve with a 2mm chunk out of it. This is very uncommon apparently and not your typical burnt valve.
So now I'm really hoping somebody out there might know if I have to get genuine Volvo parts or can I source them else where. I was told that even a lot of genuine parts are still manufactured by other companies on behalf of Volvo etc.
This is not a complete list but we will need at least the following:
At least 1 new valve
14 head bolts
Head gasket
A few O rings for the coolant system
Possibly the camshaft cover gaskets
Does any one know if there are kits vs individual parts.
I'm in Australia and can't find anything in this country.
Help with parts to rebuild my XC60 T6 motor

We have other members from Australia. One should chime in and let you know where they source their parts.geoffrow wrote: ↑23 Apr 2021, 00:37

The tool your mechanic made is ready made and can be bought for ~US$25.00. Is is called a Compression Tester Deep Well Connector. OTC Tools part number 5603.
