1998 S70 T5

My S70 started stalling recently (103,000) miles. Do you think it is my O2 sensor? What about the fuel pump? After it stalls, it is hard to restart. Once restarted it is usually fine for a while. One time I loosened the gas cap and it restarted.

An O2 sensor usually won't cause stalling. Is your check engine light on?

It could be the fuel pump or the fuel pump relay. Usually when the fuel pump itself dies it does just that - It dies and doesn't come back. The relays do tend to get intermittent in their operation before they quit completely.

If your check engine light is on get the codes read and post them back.

While I don't (yet - fingers crossed, knocking on wood) have any experience with this problem on my S70, past incidences with this symptom (on other cars) involved fuel filters ie you should definitely check your filter. If they get clogged stalling can occur. It's also the easiest and cheapest fix...of what's been suggested
