Re: Financial Distress Parts Program
Hello everyone sorry it took me so long to get back to you guys. so my location is Big Bear lake ca. if its possible to find somebody local that might be able to help, id be ecstatic. id love to be able to buy a used transmission for $500. the auto repair man told me i couldn't get one for less then $1300! Im definitely going to need a second opinion i agree! .because my volvo is out of commission I've been driving my Mitsubishi outlander for work. It has 294,000 miles on it. don't get me wrong she was a good car but now there's a terrible clunking noise when i stop as well as a horrible squealing sound coming from the wheel. so needless to say it doesn't make a great impression on my clients I dont plan on anymore $ into my it though! just really need my beautiful volvo up and running again. i also want to thank everyone who responded to my post, i appreciate the help!

one more thing......
the first time the transmission stopped working all the gadget on my dash stopped as well. gas gauge, speedometer, thermostat ect.
not sure if this might be an indicator of what's actually causing the transmission failure?

Now this is a bit of new data. SInce these transmissions are computer controlled, anything unhappy in the electrical system causes mayhem downstream. More diagnostics would be my next suggestion, with a good Volvo specific scan tool. There is a chance it could be something as simple as a bad ground somewhere in the chassis. As I mentioned in my PM, sometimes a park/neutral switch can cause odd problems, but with your other observation, that might not be the case here.
Let us know how you're getting on.

I have a 140 amp Bosch alternator off my ‘07 S60. It squeaks a little on cold start and works fine. What I thought was a bearing noise turned out to be a bent fin. I straightened it, so all it does is squeak some. The pulley bolt is stripped so the pulley can’t be replaced. It won’t last forever, but it will get someone through a tough patch. You can add this to the list available parts.
