half inch vacuum hose to from charcoal canister

Post by 5rivers »

Greetings all :)
Hope everyone is well...

The bracket that holds the charcoal canister on my car is almost toast and in the process of reviewing its condition I noticed the two hoses that go to the canister are cracked at the canister. I have located a replacement for the one hose that is shaped like a large J. It is the other hose that is directed to the back of the car from the canister, has a half-inch ID and is just over a foot in length, that I cannot seem to find. There are no auto parts places nearby that even carry this, and the newer bracket and canister that I pulled from a PNP had the same hose cracked.

Appreciate any thoughts on what might prove to be a useful replacement. Other than ordering 25 feet of a silicone vacuum hose when I need less than 2!

NAPA has hose by the foot. They practically never have what's ideal, but they always have something that will work.

Here's a diagram of the canister area which may be the same as your car. Are you looking for item 11, part 9443309? Mine is also ruined so I got it from FCP.

If it is part #11 it runs from the roll-over valve up to the breather on the fuel filler. Worst case, clean the splits up and wrap it with that black silicon tape for water leaks. It is stretchy and sticks well if you thoroughly clean the old rubber first. That should be fine until you can find the correct hose diameter. The hose should not compromise the roll-over valve as I think it is open at the other end.
