Rattle rattle rattle goes the rear bumper.

Ive noticed it is loose, and rolling underneath, the salt has eaten away the steel brackets that mount the Aluminum member to the frame rails.

I managed to string a heavy zip tie around the top of the rails, and then through the member to hold in place.

Correct way to fix, parts on order, will be

4 each 988182 986504 Flange Screw

2 982831 Bracket screw

2 6816114 Brackets

Fixed VRD REFERENCE. Jason did the awesome write up , upthread. There is info on drilling drain holes in that thread m too.

The 10 mm head bolts referenced in these threads aren’t used on later cars, 1998/99

That painted bumper bracket area is lovely. Why did you repaint it? I'm curious to see the "before" pictures. I'm replacing my bumper so might also take these preventative measures.

It was more to do with rust starting to appear and as I was in there with clear space and access seemed crazy not to protect it.
