Drilled & Slotted Rotors on a P2?

Post by Mr. Detail »

I need to ask before I have these shipped but will my 2002 V70 (Base) function normally if I installed these new slotted/drilled rotors? Just want to be sure.

What do you mean function normally? Will it break? Sure. Will it last as long as plain rotors? NO, they have a tendency to warp among other problems. And it is kinda sus as to why two rotors cost under $60 USD.

It's also, in my opinion, foolish to buy anything other than a plain rotor if you aren't planning on taking it to the track on a regular basis, but it's your money and you should spend it how you see fit.

As long as they are the same size then you should be fine. You should call places like FCPEURO or the dealer to confirm with your vin as to what is the right size.

I have slotted and drilled on a 03 Odyssey and 03 GS300. Both fronts groan when braking hard after proper break in. Detroit Axle has come a long ways in name in the last 5 to 10 years but I wouldn't use them as they too will have generic parts at that price.

After making suggestions from various companies my friend / neighbor's son went with a full set (drill & slotted) from 1A for his 2009 P71 Interceptor. He does not drive fast so don't need performance.

The best brakes I've ever used is from EBC on our 08 C30 2.0 M66. Found a front (last) set for just over a hundred dollars which immediately went back up to around $300 on Amazon when they reordered. Discovered later EBC is highly recommended for performance brake products.

The EBC's come with a black coating on the entire rotor. Serves as break in film and to keep the rotors from rusting. Didn't know better so sprayed it off with Brake Cleaner  that's why you see rust.

For P2's I would go with FCP if you plan on keeping the car till it dies. When worn or defective there is a lifetime warranty.

These have a lifetime against defects.

Thank you guys. No race track for me so you have helped me decide to stay with the OE rotors.

I had slotted rear rotors on my T5 and they were the worst POS I ever bought. Harsh and vibration on every hard stop.

I threw them out with about half their life left, and for an Honorary Scot, you know how painful that was.
