02 v70xc new fuel pump wont shut down even after battery disconnect!

Post by jking4020 »

Yes I put a new Bosch fuel pump in my V70 XC wagon all wheel drive 2.4 l turbo and the fuel pump runs and drains my battery when I turn the car off. I unhooked the negative terminal on the battery and the damn thing still keeps running. I've done a few trial and errors disconnecting the fuel pump fuse on the side of the dash board driver side. And that seems to do the trick. What the hell is with new fuel pumps not wanting to turn off? Has anyone had this issue?

I mean the fuel pump keeps pumping fuel when I disconnected the battery. No codes. No bad fuses or relays. New fuel pump and it does not want to turn off. Has Bosch been known to be defective?

One thing to add. The fuel pump would not stop until I disconnected the sending unit. I'm at least 90% sure I plugged everything in correctly when I was installing the pump. Any ideas from anyone?

OK, Seriously. The fuel pump is running after you disconnect the battery power? Disconnected battery negative only or negative and positive at battery? Or disconnected power at fuel pump? Are you certain if fuel pump wire connections are correct?

Sorry to be a wise guy.

Yes! I turned the car off and the fuel pump was still running. I had the seats up still and I could see the pump and still hear it running. I disconnected the negative terminal on the battery thinking it would solve the issue but the thing still ran. So I took the passenger seat up and disconnected the sender unit and that's when it stopped finally. F#$+ing gremlins! I can't afford a new car this is seriously weird!

Then I took out the sender unit and switched the two plugins that are identical to see if that may have been a problem. I have no fuel pump sound of operation now and no start issue. No pressure at the fuel rail. No fuses or relays are bad.
