That belt has been on there at least 70k miles or so. How do I know? Well, mine went at 70k miles. Sheared nicely across the width of the belt like someone cut it. Sucks when it happens as you lose power steering, alternator and A/C all at once.

I've seen some of the '99+ belts in pretty sad condition. I really wonder how they haven't fallen apart with how cracked they are.

Growing up in D.C , Maryland, and Virginia I well remember the rust issues. But that was over 40 years ago. You would think that in that time frame auto manufactures would have figured out rust prevention. I still have 3 '78 MY vehicles, and I don't have that much rust between all three of them. Honestly looks like that thing was submerged in water for some time. And how in a world did the fresh break in the rotor get so rusted ? So nice to not have to deal with that sort of thing anymore. Much easier to protect the plastic bits from the sun than the major steel components from premature failure due to rust.
But I guess that's the price to pay for all that beautiful green grass
