Last Friday, technically, but I replaced the front struts with the IPD pre-assembled Sachs units, replaced the swaybar links with their HD ones, and both axles with new GKNs. It's like a totally different car. Sooo smooth, and no more crashing and banging from the front on nasty roads. Took care of a good bit of the in-gear stopped vibration too.

On my original struts, the bumps stops were so old and toasty that on my northern migration from Florida to Maine for the summer, they disintegrated and departed the car!! That does not make for a good ride on bombed out northeast highways...

Did the control arms and ball joints in Feb, should have just done it all at once!

MDK here... what haven't I done? I was having a conversation on Friday with the IPD guys and they're like the 05,6,7's are the good R Volvo's. however what they don't know is that I've been stripping a 2007 S60R for parts for my 2 .. 04 R's.

I finally got to use the Harbor Freight single action spring compressor. I loaded up my springs with new Sachs struts, strut mounts, spring seats, bump stops, bellows, coil isolators, ABS brackets, new nuts and bolts. The full Monty. It worked great. I’ve been making good use of the FCP summer sale. 😉

Yes, that gutter output is perilously close to washing those shoes away

Rolled it down the ferry for the weekend.

My poor wife thinks I’m a Saint for driving down to her on weekends with her new job

Hmmm. 140 miles of no traffic highway driving, a spirited twisty country road drive past a Great Lake, then a ferry ride of an hour in the sun....followed by steak dinners, fish chips music, and the requisite marital bonding , details of which the reader is spared.

I thank the Creator for her work.

Shampooed and detailed the interior finally! I usually do this once a year and the car was getting pretty dirty inside but a recent dog attack on the young lab precipitated the job by a couple months this year. We had dried baked blood everywhere and had to use spray nine to get it off the headliner. The car looks like new again and the dog will soon be back to 100%.
