replacing steering rack questions

Post by tommylg »

My passenger side bellows is leaking and I belive the rack seal is shot.
I have the rebuilt rack and access to outer tie rods if necessary.
I am sourcing power steering pressure hose 0-rings (green) and I would think I need 2 for each line.
The pump and resevoir show no signs of being compromised.
What other items should I consider prior to the rack install?
A link to the procedure would be great!
Thanks and have a good day,
Tommy

Look into installing a power steering return line filter - if that seal is compromised there "is" junk in that system. I'd flush it afterwards.

@Abscate likely has something hanging around on replacing one, think he did one within the past year or so.

I have the 3 fresh o-rings on the way,
wizechatmgr, is that filter an add-on and a safety precaution?
I spoke w/the tech about a super flush of the power steering system to clean out any debris from the old rack.
Appreciate it,
Tommy

Prior to taking th eS70 to the shop, I am going to plastic film wrap the passenger side boot - short term - and attempt to remove the fender liners, PB Blaster all bolts/nuts/screws and.
What am I looking at? Is there 6 rivets per side, and the top is just clips I need to unclip?
Any replies would be appreciated.
Thanks and have a great wknd,
Tommy
