Alarm system service required Topic is solved
This message came up on the dash right after I got my alternator replaced yesterday. Got a new battery in May. Looked on some other forums saying it might be a problem with the battery, but since I had it replaced, I don't think that would be the issue.

The battery in the Alarm/Siren module not the Starter battery.

Recommend taking care of it right away! I took my time and the battery acid ate the board so it worked partially after the battery install and went out. Heavy duty zip ties to secure it just in case it rattles over bumps if you don't want to remove the bracket. Should be about the same placement on many Volvos.

Did you clear the codes with VIDA-DiCE ?Mrichards wrote: 23 Jul 2021, 17:27 I replaces the siren module, but I'm still getting the message on my dash saying it needs serviced.
If you replace it with used, there a fair chance the replacement has the same problem.

The front of this V50 looks like the pre-facelift C30's. What alarm is this?

The battery and or board may be bad? Battery may no longer charge even if the board is not acid eaten? May have to get another used or new unit unless you know how to test the module. Call a local Volvo shop to see if they have a known good spare sitting around for you to test with.

Or you could just ignore it and turn off the warning when you start the car... I've been ignoring mine for 2-1/2 years, LOL.
