2005 Xc90 DRL query

Post by chrisjack »

I have been playing around with three light options in VIDA. Currently my option is set to the following:

Flexstd and DRL activated by sensor.

During the day I have no DRL and the BI-Xenons are off as well. The light knob position is 0. Turning the knob to position 12 or 1 turns on the Bi-xenons and parking lights as it should.

I checked the sensor voltage on the dash (alarm/light sensor) when I shine a torch on it during the day I see the voltage go up on the sunlight and twilight parameter which is under the CEM section in Vida.

I've tried the flexzero/flexnoll option as well which turn on the Bi-xenons/low beams. The halogens on my car function only as full beams in position 1 or flash when the light knob is in position zero, no matter what flex option I choose.

Has anyone faced this sort of thing?

These settings vary by market so you might not have the options in vida available in your car in NZ.

Yeah; quite possible. The car I have is imported from the Japanese market; having DRL's is not mandatory in NZ. However, what I am curious to understand is; are there any members who have the GDL's or dipped lamps as the DRL's i.e set from the factory in their market? because using the flexzero or flexnoll turns on the Bi-xenons all the time and flexstd keeps the Bi-xenons off all the time and the halogens always function as full beam only on my car (not as DRL).

Not sure if the previous owner has pulled out a fuse/if they have rewired it different or if the sun sensor is out (although as I said before I can see voltage changes with torch light on the sun and twilight sensor).

To be clear I'm not fussed about having DRL's or lights running all the time and I can use the switch on the dash panel as required. I'm just trying to understand what is different in my car from other member's experience
