Hi all

I am hearing a pop coming from around my exhaust cam area when I turn the crank by hand. It sounds almost like opening a corked bottle.

Thanks

Nicm

Do you have the spark plugs in still? I had a little pop and hiss when hand cranking my engine once, I assumed it was just the cylinders pressurizing a little and then releasing.

What is the engine history? Has the timing belt been removed or loosened since it ran? Any other thing that may change valve timing?

Do the timing marks for both cams and the crankshaft line up as required? If not, you can have valve to piston interference.
