Of course thinking back, I can see so many ways now that I could have done things better. Maybe I could find it and they'd let me have a second go round at it

So fun. When I was a kid, there were several mechanics and crafts people in our neighborhood. Our alley was paved, and all these guys had shops in the back of their houses. Across from us was the retired head mechanic of the big downtown Cadillac dealer in Denver (he once replaced the timing chain on Mae West's Duesenberg when she was passing through).
He had a maybe 4 stall shop with lifts and a machine shop. Made some new bolts for me when I was an idiot HS student and no parts stores were open on Sundays.
There was a wealthy Ford dealer and collector in town and our neighbor did all the machine work, engines, and mechanical systems restoration for his collection. The engines I saw on his floor....V16 Cadillacs, Duesenbergs, Ferraris...
Another old carpenter up the street did all the woodwork, interior trim, and body framework similar to your project. Another guy did sheet metal and painting. It was a great experience, but I was too young to learn much from them.
I came home from school one day and he had a Maserati Quatroporte sedan completely disassembled. They were a quirky big Italian V8 sedan with electrical issues. The mechanics at the Ford dealer fought it for months, then sent it to our guy. He had both lids open, and the trunk and interior and door cards all removed. He traced every wire in that car until he figured it out, then had to put it back together again to look like new.

Thanks for sharing that memory, BB.
I just ran across this randomly, and it reminded me about the era of Big Glass. You know, where you could see out of cars?
It's a '78 Buick. Look at the side glass! Acres! Reminds me of the 700/900 series.
