Rear seat belt replacement

I had to completely cut one of the rear seat belts as I didn't have any tools to undo the bolt and it was stuck in the down position and needed to fit a child's car seat for a journey.
So, now I need a new belt from a yard.
What's the best way to remove a good belt from a yard seat and then fit it as a replacement?

Removing the one you have will show which tools you need to take.
I wonder if you can overlap the belt and sew or rivet it.

It's a T-40/T-47 if I recall.. you guys need to start posting pictures with your troubles so we can what you're up against.. if it's with in in your power to do so..
