Hello! I missed y'all. How y'all been doing? Abscate, keeping your cookies alive I hope? MoVolvos, greetings in Christ! Hello Matt, hope you are well.

I have said many times my 960 was the greatest car ever and after my last Volvo, I wanted to only get a RWD. Well after fruitless and stressful attempts, still none in sight. This did pop up on my radar though on FB MP. It was more impulse. The tarp is for covering the sunroof. It leaks through the passenger side BUCKLE warning light by the reading light. These are the before pictures, pretty much how I bought it. I will be posting several pictures tomorrow with my once-again upgrades.

A link to the sunroof leak issue. I will be plastering the sunroof with gasket maker to refresh the seal but want to read the topic itself about the leak.
A link to how to replace the steering column adjustment lever (mine is snapped flush with the dash).

Welcome back! Finding good RWD cars now at the age they are is a hard task. There are not many left worth having. I have also considered a 960/V90 wagon, but to be honest with the winters we get here they are not ideal. All our cars are AWD for that reason, although I do like how the 960 rides.

Back to the task in hand. For the most part the car looks not too bad. That rust though is a problem as it may have penetrated enough to let water past the windshield seal. You could try cleaning that hole and put some silicon on there to test the theory.

I had a leak from what I thought was the sunroof seal, but not sure they really fail bad enough to leak into the car. The tray around the sunroof should catch the water and direct it down the 4 drains (one in each corner).

Worth checking the seal condition and for rust around the glass section.

The drains can split with age but that is a headliner out job to sort.

The issue I had was a poorly sealed windshield that allowed water to get by, especially if the car was left on a slope. Had it re-sealed and all was then good.

Thank you and thank you. The trailer project has gone nowhere. It's on hold until it cools down. I've got some money saved up to buy the steel needed for the firewall and floor. As soon as it cools down, the grinder and welder will be out to get the body work done. Also I'm stocked up on butt splices, male/female wire connectors, wire cutters and strippers, trailer wiring, and about 20 ft of +&- wiring.

I bet if you pull up that DS roof rail you'll find rust all under it in that corner of the windshield.

The only real way to fix that is to pull the windshield.

That's also probably where your water is getting in, not the sunroof.

Alright I tested both. First the corner for about 5 sec. THAT revealed a second leak which leaks onto the far left side of the driver seat. No leakage at the BUCKLE UP light. Then I streamed the water right on the sunroof and that prompted the BUCKLE UP light leak. So 2 leaks. So perhaps the sunroof drains are clogged and the water is pooling in the sunroof tray.
I really do want links to these topics so I can read all about the fixes. Yes I can plaster that gasket maker on the sunroof, but unclogging and taking out the sunroof tray might be a good task to complete. I've removed 2 headliners and installed 2 headliners. Yes it's a pain but I'm willing. Tomorrow I'll take of the rails and black trim to investigate. I don't like it anyway. Slicktops look better.

P.S. What is it on selector knob? An axe handle?

LOL Thanks for the reminder! And now that you mention it, that might be a miniature axe handle. I do not know. I did not put it on there. I do not like it. The guy I sold my 98 s70 gt to probably would be happy to swap for that. He had a factory shift knob.
