850 code 424 tracs | leaking ABS pump | tracs delete

Post by hausmeister »

Hey

My 850 is giving me no rest lately. I read a 424 code which says "Tracs pressure sensor" and brake warning light is on. What I could find the sensor should be on the tracs/abs unit. I also found a pn which is of course NA.
Visually I couldn't locate it, so I will probably at least remove the airbox and check again.

My main question is, can I get rid of the light by "deleting" tracs, removing the connector, or removing a relay? Honestly tracs did work but it is completely useless. I just need to get rid of the break trouble light so I know if there is a real issue and to pass inspections.

Can't find much on TRACS :|

Edit: My car does not have a separate tracs light.
ABS works normally by the way.
I'll follow the service manual and see how far I get. Maybe disconnecting the switch and the tracs button is enough

Focus on how the pressure switch works. Then maybe you can figure out how to fake it.
If the pressure switch is variable resistance you might be able to fake it with a resistor.
What is the part number you need? Somebody here might have it.

Checked today, I think the ABS unit is shot. It is leaking quite a lot from the bottom plastic part (screw holes) . I assume thats the electronics...
Fluid level was low.
I switched to my s70 for now, don't want to drive like that.

I will try to find a used abs unit... part numers of my stuff just for reference or if someone has one ;) :
9140933 or ATE 10.0202-0194.4 abs pump/unit, probably the same as 9173973 which seems more common
9401542 computer
3515632 relay or something

Yes the electronics are the Brake Control Module ( AKA ABS ) . Screws loose or seals gone bad. Seals are part of the Control Module.

@manovlov thanks, I already checked there. But I'm not paying 1.6k € for that, no way.

@RickHaleParker
I will try to find a used one, not sure if there are other options. Might check if one of the control module rebuilders can fix it.

:D
I found 1 single pump for sale in sweden, but they are not willing to ship it. Also at 500€ quite expensive.

I think I will get a compete replacement, master cylinder, regulator, computer, pump, etc. and replace everything to use normal ABS. Hopefully that should work... And I suspect it would be much cheaper as well.

If anyone has exerience with this let me know.

Do you need abs ecu or abs pump or both for '95 with auto transmission?

I can check here with a guy who have parts for '91-'95 850s.

I found this on google:
https://shopcar.parts/en/autopart/10416 ... ke-pump%29

Is this it?
According to part # you posted it is exactly what you need.

Here is another one in Italy:
