850 Door lock button

Post by manovlov »

Hy Buddies,

Could someone tell me about this button ? I was thinking about installing a kind of system to lock the doors when i start to drive. I've never seen that button before. Do all car pre-equiped to receive it ?

Each time i work on my beauty i realize i don't know anything about this marvellous Gran'Ma..

Was this button fitted to your car? If so where in the car is it fitted. I can't recall having this in either of my 850's.

The shape of the button looks like it is on the dashboard somewhere around the steering wheel?

In my 00 V70 the button is on the drivers door panel with the window switches. The button either locks or unlocks all the doors depending which way you tilt it.

Found this advert for a 97 850. In the last picture of the speedo area, You can see the door lock on the dash to the left of the steering column:

I have once too see this in options lists. It most likely breaks (opens) the lock signal (there is three usually) circuit to lock the door and or brings signal to ground on another position to open them. Thats how you can diy one by yourself if ever want. Or how i would do it.

P.S. or you make it fully automatic door locks by the speed by using that dashboard speed pulse output to automatically lock the locks for the safety reasons when you start going.. and when ignition turns off locks opens again.. that how i would do it :)
