"Mea culpa" means "through my fault" in Latin...

Post by Eddystone »

Wikipedia:

Mea culpa, which means "through my fault" in Latin, comes from a prayer of confession in the Catholic Church. Said by itself, it's an exclamation of apology or remorse that is used to mean "It was my fault" or "I apologize."

I feel as though I ought to apologize, at least to the regulars, for some of my recent posts. Far from providing helpful information to others, it seems to me that I have wasted some of your time recently by posing questions before I had really taken a good look at what was going on with my cars, and that I have sent a couple of friends out on wild goose chases (or maybe snipe hunts).

In a way, I feel as if I have been picking your brains before I really engaged my own and later found some pretty obvious solutions to my car issues.

Anyway, thanks for all the support, and I'll try to be more specific with my questions going forward. :-)

I'll throw in a regular saying of mine:

"The next perfect person I meet will be the first......!"

If there is a Hades for being overly chatty I’m going to occupy it and fill it, leaving no room for anyone else.

Speaking for myself, I also find that sometimes I jump before checking things out more thoroughly. I think it's something related to being human.

As my mom used to tell me - " Engage brain before putting mouth in gear."
Try to learn life's bad lessons vicariously through others.

Don't worry, I've been down that road quite frequently, and people still talk to me - at least online ... :D

I find it fascinating that since the advent of very useful car forums, I tend to not even look in the manual, I search or ask a dumb question here!

Don't worry, grilled Snipe is pretty tasty!

I must also simultaneously apologize for asking so many questions and express gratitude for those who answer them. I do search a little before asking, but I'll either find too little or too much info. Sometimes the questions are vague diagnostics or identifying common problems to help start my deeper research.

I always hope that a question asked and answered adds to the knowledge base from which others can search. I hope I can answer some questions and give back to that knowledge base.

As my family used to say, "Look with your eyes, not with your mouth."

Re-asking questions here has helped me add a lot of part numbers to titles…..
