Dealing with fading clearcoat on 850s

Now that I've got the car all tuned up and front suspension all straightened out, it seems a perfect time for the clearcoat on my roof and hood to fade away, right?

Roof seems to get worse every day, hood is about to start losing clearcoat. Short of a full repaint, I suppose there is nothing to do but let nature take its course, right? Is there any known product that can stop this process?

I have toyed with the idea of Rhinolining the entire roof since I tend to use the roof rack and a cargo cage to haul things. It would be nice to not have to worry about scratching paint while loading and unloading up there. Hood would not be a good candidate for that treatment I imagine.

Is the clear coat flaking off or just dull?

The coat flaking off is a ubiquitous problem on P80 cars now.

I got a 1998 P80 C70 sitting outside. The clear coat is intact and clear.

N=1 changes EVERYTHING!!!!!

Thanks Rick. For me 2 are peeling (95 and 98) and 2 are not (96 and 98).

It seems a bit pseudo random

5 p80s , 1 P2

1 P80 with clear coat peel , 1 P80 with a few spots

Rest are all golden

Already have data 1/4 of the way to Poisson

3 P80s, 1 with peeling clearcoat (burgundy), 2 not (fortunately).

Tally: 6 not peeling, 5 are peeling.

Good to know. Next time my wife says I have too many cars, I will reply that there is a guy who has 11 P80s...
