Over the years my roof trim has been slowly peeling and I finally was able to hunt down a Volvo S80 in the same color as mine in pick-a-part place and got the four trim parts I needed. After reading a few online posts about how to remove these parts I got enough confidence to try and it was very easy.
Just using a bone tool I removed the right and left end piece (rubber part at the end of the front windows between the frame and roof trim) and began to pry loose the retaining clips under the trim. I started front to back and once I got the first two off by prying up and towards the center of the car, the trim just came off. The smaller rear trim by the rear window is separate from the main trim and I took it off using the same method as the front.
Installing the replacement ones was a reversal of steps and just as easy. I started with the rear trim piece and made sure that I had about a 1 CM gap from the trunk lid to the end of the rear trim piece before locking it into place on the clips. I just pressed firmly down on the trim and it locked into place. The front trim (larger piece) will slid into the the rear trim and after that I just pressed into place locking it to the clips. Once I got to the front towards the last two clips, I made sure that the end of the trim was tucked inside close to the glass so it would lock into place easier and not get stuck on the outside.
After that it looks like new. I was very happy with the results and it only took about 15 minutes to remove and install.

The rubber trim end piece I had to buy at the Volvo Dealership for about $17 each. I could not find a used piece that was in good or better shape than the ones I had on my S80. The elements have a lot to do with how well these rubber/plastic parts fair through the years. I think these new ones can make do for another 5-10 years I hope.
Thanks,
