Demonic possession of headlight switch

Post by Ovlovgirl21 »

Hi all. The headlight switch on my wife's new-to-us '16 XC60 seems to be demonically possessed.

She always leaves it in the "Auto" position. However, several times she has found that the next time she gets into the car, the light switch has been turned to another setting.

At first we thought that her hand or knee might have been hitting the switch when getting in or out. But since this had happened several times now, yesterday we did a detailed ergonomic assessment of how she gets in and out of her buggy.

And neither her hand nor any part of her leg got anywhere nearly close enough to the light switch to knock it to another position.

I've never heard of a rotary light switch that could move itself, so have settled on demonic possession as the likely culprit!

Has anybody ever heard of this happening? If so, please explain why it happens and what can be done to avoid it.

If I don't hear from anyone, then I'm resigned to having to call an Exorcist.

Thanks!!

Put a webcam in the car over night to see what's going on? Interesting problem...

What was the outcome after the Exorcist's intervention? :D
I would assume the problem went away and you did not have to pay a lot of $$$ for the professional service
Example of Precision: Measure with a Micrometer, mark it with Chalk, and then cut it with an Axe.

I've learned that Covid has significantly disrupted the Exorcist supply chain. Apparently, our Exorcist was on that cargo ship that constipated the Suez Canal a couple of months ago.

Sadly, even Exorcist.Com's Director of Customer Service can't give me an E.T.A. on when the Exorcist will finally arrive.

Thanks for asking.

I take it the problem with you light control persits and hiring a professional who can work from home is not an option

Hasn't happened again for a while. So perhaps, without my knowledge, the Exorcist solved the problem remotely.

Thanks,

Rick

Hmmmm..... That's a good thought. Will have to interrogate our 2 adult offspring. Sneaky little divils that they are!

Did you investigate her hand bag .... ?
She may of been dragging the bag across the switch when she got out.
