9141095 70825640NA Behr/Hella coolant tank

Post by 850oldschool »

I turned up a Behr/Hella coolant tank at IPD while googling 9141095. In the photo on their website, you can read the words "made in" on the sticker, but what comes after is conveniently obscured. $18, plus about $10.50 shipping, "Available to order", which means it could be a few days before it ships. A good tank delivered for $28.50 seems too good to be true, so I ordered one to find out.

Volvo OEM branded (they have a sticker on the top) tanks are around, I bought one from Ebay a year ago, sixty bucks. Quick search didn't turn any up, though. Unless your old one is cracked keep it as a spare, if the cheap ones are anything like what I put on my old Audi you might get 2-3 years out of it, max.

It's worth noting that this isn't a Uro or even a Meyle, but Behr/Hella, which seems to be the preferred brand of aftermarket heater cores here on MVS. My first choice would be NOS with a few scuffs and a scratch in the label on ebay, but nothing's been turning up for quite a while.

There are some parts that are safer to just buy from FCP. Purchased the aftermarket but known brand from FCP and the plastic clips on the tank to the strut tower both snap during installed. FCP refunded and I bought the Volvo instead. Free return shipping for a defective unit during the first 30 days.

Some Behr/Hella items have been showing up with suspiciously low price tags as of late. I suspect that means the country of origin is China for those items. But FCP does have their warranty. I wouldn't put much stock in the quality, as the price suggests.

As expected, there is no free lunch here. This looks like the same $20 Chinese tank everybody but Volvo is selling. They choose to obfuscate the origin a bit by labelling it "Made in PRC", rather than "Made in China". Mahle=Meyle in this case. Now we know.

Who knows were Volvo parts are made these days. I mentioned previously that I went to buy OE 300mm rotors for my V70R and FCP had them on sale. Country of Origin? China. Would I intentionally put my like on the line for Chinese made rotors. No chance!!
Is this why we went through so many OE rotors for our 06 XC70?

I guess Mahle= Behr now too.

One thing for sure, if your thread info isn’t three months old or newer, it’s probably out of date.

FCP is currently listing the genuine part as made in Sweden.
