Service Required Dash Message after accelerating past 3000revs or in kickdown

Recent Volvo owner. Last 12 months. D5 Auto (2005)
When accelerating past 3000rpm or in kickdown a message immediately appears on Dash : “Service Required”. In addition power is limited to 2200rpm.

I have friends who are mechanically minded. They wonder whether it is a fault with the turbo boost sensor. Would you agree or could it be caused by other factors? Any help would be appreciated

Many things could cause this. Its not economical to guess.

Can you get the codes read out to see what guidance they give?

Note - we dont get either diesel Volvos nor decent football in the US, so you might have to wait a bit for EU/UK folks to respond
