2008 s40 Antiskid and stalling
Hello, I’m about at the end of my rope with this car! The car when you start it will run ok for probably 30-45 seconds then backfires and at the same time the antiskid comes on and car acts like it’s in limp mode, barely idling. I’ve run codes and am getting a constant TCM-0192 and a ABS0101. Occasionally getting ECM-6404, ECM-990F,ECM-310D. I’m fairly mechanical minded and do all of our repairs. This Volvo drives me crazy, seems to be a nightmare to diagnose. Car seems to run fine for the short period of time before the antiskid and abs come on then poof it barely runs. I’m assuming that the ABS Module may be the issue, but would like some other input before I buy one. Thank you in advance

Haven’t heard anything from anyone, does anyone else agree that the ABS module would be the place to start. And is it possible for the gear selector module to put the car in limp with the antiskid light?

Jonesroad, the TCM-0192 is in fact the code produced by the shift indicator. I’ve found that if the plastic “slide” is broken or missing the magnet that is in there will cause the code and in return not allow for the manual shifting option. The car should perform as normal with this code, you will just be lacking the manual shift option. Hope this helps

Yeah I bought the plastic slide , replaced it, Still won't go into manual mode.
I have another s40, auto transmission; took the green silicon chip board off and switched it out- still no change.
Going to go to the lkq junkyard and try pulling another one off and see if it is in fact that. Regardless the slide part is replaced. Tried clearing codes but nothing worked.

my problem was I bought a gearshift blind thingy that was not magnetizing the hall sensors correctly.
Needless to say, a lot of work for nothing.
