XC70 front bumper cover side tabs broken fix

i have finally found the source of an annoying plastic tapping sound coming from the front bumper area.

I have found that the tab on the cover that is meant to slot behind the bracket tab near the headlight has broken off.

Has anyone attempted a bumper cover repair?, replacing the whole cover sounds a waste to me.

I want to avoid drilling a hole, what glue will stick to these (blue) bumper covers JB weld?

I found a piece of matching plastic (has to be exactly the same kind of plastic) and glued it in with a heat gun. Worked fine till winter, when it eventually came off after numerous heat expansion circles. In AU you may be fine w/o freezing temps.
