98 V70 non turbo transmission leak

My wife's car is out of town and she said it had a transmission fluid leak, I knew the cooler lines were leaking so went out and changed them- but it is pouring out when I fill it, leading me to think it is the dipstick tube- as it is 250km from me I would like to get any other ideas, it seems to be coming out almost right in the middle of the car and the fluid it is dripping is clean which makes me think it is the tube- and can I use an o-ring for this or do I have to use the factory part ?

Oh crap. I take it you are not nearby to fix it or see where the issue is?

It could be the dipstick, but unless you removed it it is strange as to why it would suddenly start leaking there unless the dipstick 'o' ring has split a the top or the dipstick has broken off.

Are you sure it is not one of the trans oil pipes leaking? One goes to about the middle if I recall.

She is not down my way is she?

No she is here I drove out and got her but will have to go back North to the car- the reason I suspect it is the dipstick is the fluid coming out is nice and clean and seems to come out as fast as I put it in- I drove it for 5km and the fluid dripping was cold while the cooler lines were warm

Sorry can't be of more help but not being able to see the car it is hard to help.

Wish you luck with the recovery.

Can you tape it with plumbing sealing tape after cleaning with alcohol to slow the leak rate to get it home?
