850 r turbo turbo coolant and oil line torque spec

Post by aa_ezra »

So here is the short of it

What is the torque on the banjo 17 mm bolts on the turbo, any trick on a tool to get the job done easy , i ca no longer tighten it without striping the bolt due to the angle/room available

Engine head gasket seals, oil PVC system and turbo cleaned blah blah,

The head gasket kit i got from fcp had 4 brass crush washers that i used on the cooling lines to the turbo. I had some other brass washers but they seemed to big and i didnt' used them and had no clue were to put them

So What is the Torque Spec on the Banjo bolts for the cooling and oil lines, I had to reused the brass washers for the oil feed to the turbo and after start up it started to leak i tightened it up it might still be leaking but i don't want to tighten the bolt without knowing how much torque to apply.

Were would i get some new brass crush washers for the banjo bolt locally? i don't want to be 8$ shipping for a very cheap washer

I can't find the torque spec in the book but on a Banjo bolt I wouldn't venture beyond 30 lb/ft.

Thank you for looking, I just wanted to be sure so i can go over them. I made them very firm and then tightened a little more. I guess my downfall was that i re-used the brass crush washers :(. now i need to find some new ones locally b/c paying shipping would not be worth it

Honestly, check out Lowe's hardware department - they have like a whole aisle of screws and stuff. I can't see why they would need to be brass; galvanized steel in thin washers would work just as well.

Brass will crush much easier than steel washers.

Dead threat alert. Still a valid point about the brass washers.

I looked for the turbo banjo spec in all data and couldn’t find it.

The PCV banjo takes the same size bolt and is 24 Nm or about 19 ft lb fir those in Brunei or Yemen
