I must replace my rear caliper boots ASAP, so I may want a rear piston or two on hand if I find any which are bad. I know I shouldn't try a full caliper rebuild with disassemble, sandblast, prime/paint, hone, and piston replace. Surely it's cheaper to buy whole new calipers, but after having five rebuilt calipers fail, I'm sick of paying.
Piston boots are easily available from FCP. I just bought a rear set for $31 (two ago, it's now $27). It's the pistons that I've never been able to find.
Huge thanks to cn90. Your thread taught me so much about brakes at a time when my calipers kept failing due to boots incorrectly mounted from the remanufacturer. It gave me the confidence to take control of my breaking problems.cn90 wrote: ↑26 Aug 2021, 19:31 I did the brake caliper rebuild some 10 yrs ago and wrote it up.
