brakeparts.co.uk does not appear to ship to the USA. partsmonster.co.uk does not have rear caliper pistons. Abscate, which site were you planning to use and how are they shipping to the USA?

I must replace my rear caliper boots ASAP, so I may want a rear piston or two on hand if I find any which are bad. I know I shouldn't try a full caliper rebuild with disassemble, sandblast, prime/paint, hone, and piston replace. Surely it's cheaper to buy whole new calipers, but after having five rebuilt calipers fail, I'm sick of paying.

Piston boots are easily available from FCP. I just bought a rear set for $31 (two ago, it's now $27). It's the pistons that I've never been able to find.

Huge thanks to cn90. Your thread taught me so much about brakes at a time when my calipers kept failing due to boots incorrectly mounted from the remanufacturer. It gave me the confidence to take control of my breaking problems.

I would like piston and seal sets for an entire car...2 fronts and 2 rears.

I’ll pay the shipping back.

Brakes International in the UK does not ship to the USA, as confirmed by their email support. I saw a comment online that the Budweg pistons they sell are rebuilt, so perhaps no better than what we get on rebuilt calipers.

Parts Monster does not have rear caliper pistons and does not reveal the brand of the brake parts they sell.

Skandix does have pistons but won't reveal their source. I'm waiting to hear back if they really want to charge me $150 for shipping, or if they'll offer the $60 which DHL estimates.

Ultimately, buying replacement pistons is way more expensive than buying calipers and they may just rust out again in a few years.

Cracked open those nasty boys and measured the internal o-ring

It’s an odd one indeed

11mm hex bolts M6 shanks. Only one other 11 mm hex head on a P80 I know of….

Rear caliper bolts are m7x45 and are avaiable at Belmetrics

Suggestion. One of our UK members does the deed and then private ships to us?

10 mm outer diameter
2mm thickness
2 mm height.

Its a cylindrical shape seal, not an O- ring

Skandix just quoted me $100 via FedEx to ship two full sets of pistons (6 per car, 12 total) from Germany to the USA. For a much larger order, they would charge $150 to ship with DHL, providing much better part/shipping ratio. Therefore, let's do an entire MVS Skandix group buy.

I bet we could get a UK or DEU member to ship to us for a lot less.

There is another country famous for its Kangaroos that could help too
