Volvo 850 Turbo radiator mounts

Post by professorsunshine »

Somehow I didn't notice that the radiator on my recently bought Volvo 850 was held up by zip ties on one side. They recently broke and I'd like to do this properly. I've looked around a bit, where can I find the rubber bushing that goes in the hole in the radiator mount? is it ok/safe to mount it solidly with a bolt and washer? and DIY solution?

You need to fab a metal piece to spread the load onto the ear of the radiator mount and the use a stainless bolt nut washer ( a crappy hardware store M8 will do) to effect this repair.

I have to do this on my T5 so if you can wait a few I can share the dimensions, maybe Tuesday?

Are the radiator mounts broken or just missing the bushings?

I've already made my own mount for it out of some Home Depot hardware. I cut the sides off of as large flange washer so there's plenty of surface area holding onto the rad mount. double nutted on so it doesn't shake loose and whatnot.
The mounts are all there, just missing the rubber bushings and the little metal rings that go in them. if there's anywhere online I can buy replacments for those I'd love to, but alas...
