Now that I have completely drained the coolant (replaced water pump also).
For my two 2001 XCs, I have been using the green coolant. I have other cars I use different coolants in them. I currently have about four or five coolant colors. Can I use the universal (All Models) in these volvo?
Thanks

I'd recommend against it.
I have only used Volvo green in my 2001 V70 T5. Never had a leak, or any cooling system problem. Maybe replaced the thermostat and temperature sensor once in 20 years. I'm sold on the Volvo formula. I believe a gallon is less than $30.
Why change now?

Thanks for your thoughts on the coolant. The green coolant I use is not Volvo coolant. It’s store bought coolant. Guess I’ll stick with it.93SCMax wrote: ↑10 Oct 2021, 06:30 I'd recommend against it.

I have used only Green Prestone (the fully concentrated version) + distilled water for the last 25 yrs
on my BMWs, Volvos.
Zero issues.
In fact, when I opened up the thermostat housing, WP areas etc., the inside of the engine looked pristine clean.
I like Prestone...

Zerex G-05 is labeled for modern Volvo use. I have used for many years.
