2000 Volvo v70 b5244t exhaust cam seal

Post by sicknoto »

Hi I’m working on a big oil leak. It was coming from my exhaust cam and I see that the seal is spinning with the sprocket. It shredded the seal and now with this new seal I want to make sure this issue doesn’t happen again.

Thanks

Nick

So you either added engine cleaner before oil change or you need a PCV job. There is almost no point in changing your seals if you didn't do the PCV job. That's because there is so much pressure from that stupid little clogged tube attached below the intake manifold that it is pushing on the weakest cam seal and causing the leak as a result. For me it was clogged long enough that you can put your finger around the bolt and see carbon on your fingers. Leaky cam seals are the most common problem from a clogged PCV.
